Hot water installations are not simply a matter of unbolt and rebolt a few pipes together. In Queensland, the regulations surrounding the installation of all types and brands of hot water systems are quite extensive compared to other states and territories in Australia. Every hot water replacement must comply with current Australian standards, which have changed since your original hot water heater was installed. Not only are there additional costs for the valves required that are not included with the hot water system, but we also have to pay the QBCC for the submission of Form 4, which is essentially a mandatory council fee imposed on every home that has a hot water heater replaced.

- Hot water and drain pipes fully insulated

Nowadays, every replacement of a hot water system must be carried out by a licensed plumber who holds an electrical license to disconnect and reconnect the power. If you’re relocating the hot water system, you’re also required to install an electrical isolator next to it. Unfortunately, there are still unscrupulous and unlicensed operators who cut corners and avoid complying with regulations. This can void the manufacturer’s warranty and reduce the life expectancy of your hot water system.
